As the shopping was done, everyone was in school while Shriyan and Vrinda discussed the upcoming function with their class teacher.
"Ma'am, I have submitted the names and all the decorations are done," Vrinda said to the teacher.
"Yes, ma'am. Everything is set, and the dance our class is going to perform is also fixed," Shriyan added.
"Ok then, the function is on Wednesday, as you know," the teacher said.
"Yes, ma'am," Shriyan and Vrinda said and headed back towards their class.
"Let's go and watch how the dance practice is going," Vrinda said to Shriyan.
"Okay, let's go," Shriyan agreed.
As they went to watch the dance practice, Vrinda noticed the steps were not synchronized with the song. She approached the one who organized the dance to suggest changes.
"Suno, yeh steps iss song ke saath match nahi ho rahe hain. Yeh ek traditional song hai, toh it should have some classical steps," she said.
"Mujhe samaj nahi aa raha hai aap kya bol rahi hain," the organizer said.
"Accha, hum karke batate hai," Vrinda added.
"Tumhe dance aata hai?" Shriyan asked, surprised, as Vrinda never participated in any dance-related functions.
"Haan, par jyada tar classical dance pasand hai, isliye bola," Vrinda answered.
As she demonstrated the steps, she got lost in the song and danced in her own world. Anish entered the dance room, looking for Shriyan, but stopped when he saw Vrinda dancing. He was mesmerized by her performance. When the song ended, Vrinda became conscious and realized everyone was clapping for her. She noticed Anish looking at her as if she was a beautiful sight, which embarrassed her, and she left the room.
Shriyan approached Anish. "Tum yaha kya kar rahe ho?" Shriyan asked.
"Woh… mein…" Anish stammered.
"Are yaar, yeh mujhe kya ho gaya, kuch yaad hi nahi aa raha kyu aaya tha mai," Anish mumbled, audible only to Shriyan.
"Vrinda ko dekh ke shayad sab bhul gaya hoga," Shriyan teased.
"Haa….Yaad hi nahi aa raha," Anish admitted, then bit his tongue. "Nahi… Matlab…"
"Sab samajh gaya mai," Shriyan said mischievously, smirking.
"I'm going back to class. Agar kuch yaad aaya toh bol dunga," Anish said, embarrassed.
"Haan thik hai. Aur sun, agar Vrinda pasand hai toh mujhe bata sakta hai. After all, we are best friends. You can share anything with me," Shriyan told Anish before he left.
"Nahi aisa kuch nahi hai," Anish said, leaving.
As Anish entered the class, Vrinda was already sitting on her seat. Their eyes locked for a moment, blurring everything around them. Vrinda broke the eye contact, shyly blushing and focusing on her book. Anish also looked down, feeling awkward.
As Vrinda looked at her book, she kept replaying the dance moment in her mind, thinking about how Anish was looking at her. When the bell rang for lunch break, Vrinda and Vaidehi were eating lunch while Anish and Shriyan discussed Vrinda.
"Tujhe woh pasand hai na?" Shriyan asked Anish.
"Are aisa nahi hai woh bus mai…" Anish tried to deny.
"Mujhse mat chupa yaar, bata bhi de abhi," Shriyan insisted.
"Haan, lekin woh mujhe sirf pasand nahi hai, mai prem karta usse," Anish finally admitted, taking a deep breath.
"Maine kaha tha na, tu jis tarah use dekh raha tha, mai tabhi sab samaj gaya tha," Shriyan said. "I am so happy yaar, aur mujhe party chaiye."
"Are baba, usne abhi haa nahi kaha joh tu party maang raha hai," Anish said with a smile.
"Accha sun, tujhe bhi kuch batana hai…. Mujhe bhi koi pasand hai," Shriyan confessed.
"Kaun hai woh badnaseeb ladki?" Anish teased mischievously.
"Vaidehi," Shriyan answered, getting a little shy.
Meanwhile, Vaidehi and Vrinda noticed Anish and Shriyan deep in conversation.
"Yeh dono itna kya baat kar rahe hain? Hume bhi sunna hai," Vrinda said to Vaidehi.
"Kya pata," Vaidehi replied.
"Ruko, mai abhi pata kar ke aati hoon," Vaidehi said, determined.
"Nahi, mat jao," Vrinda said, but Vaidehi was already on her way.
Vaidehi walked backwards towards Anish and Shriyan's bench. As she neared, Shriyan got up, and Vaidehi's foot got stuck. She was about to fall when Shriyan caught her, creating a romantic moment.
"Mummy!" Vaidehi exclaimed, closing her eyes.
Realizing someone was holding her, she opened her eyes and found Shriyan.
"Hame chhod dijiye," Vaidehi said to Shriyan, who was gazing at her.
"Haan… Sorry," Shriyan said, letting her go, causing her to fall to the ground, attracting everyone's attention, including Vrinda and Anish.
"Kanha, chot toh nahi aayi?" Vrinda asked with concern, helping Vaidehi up.
"Tumhe laga toh nahi?" Anish asked.
"Are aise kaun chodta hai," Vaidehi said, staring at Shriyan.
"Sorry, sorry, mera tumhe girane ka koi iraada nahi tha, woh bas tumne kaha chhod do toh maine chhod diya," Shriyan said, disappointed.
"Haan, bahut accha kiya. Pehle girne se bachaya aur phir khud chhod diya," Vaidehi said, slightly angry.
"Are, koi baat nahi, galti se ho gaya. Chalo, chhodo, jaane do," Vrinda said to Vaidehi.
"Accha, sorry for being rude. Aur madad karne ke liye thank you," Vaidehi said before leaving.
"I am really sorry," Shriyan said, feeling guilty.
"Koi baat nahi," Vaidehi said.
As they sat back on their seats, Vrinda scolded Vaidehi. "Humne bola tha na, kya zaroorat thi jaane ki. Dekha kya ho gaya? Lag jata toh kya karti?"
"Are shaant ho jao, mata. Itna bhi kuch nahi hua aur laga toh nahi mujhe. Itna serious kyu ho rahi ho," Vaidehi said.
"Vaise jis kaam ke liye yeh sab kiya, woh toh hua hi nahi," Vaidehi added.
"Abhi bhi tumhe mazaak hi karna hai. Kabhi toh sudhar jao," Vrinda said, disappointed.
"Are, kuch nahi hua. Accha, phir aisa nahi karungi," Vaidehi assured Vrinda.
"Haan thik hai. Waise kuch bhi nahi pata chala, kya bol rahe the," Vrinda asked.
"Nahi na, itna jugaad kiya, kaam bhi nahi aaya," Vaidehi said, disappointed.
"Chhodo, jaane do. Bol rahe honge kuch toh," Vrinda said.
"Tumhe pakka kahin laga toh nahi?" Vrinda interrogated again.
"Nahi, nahi, nahi! Aur kitni baar bolu?" Vaidehi said mischievously.
They both started laughing. As the lunch break ended, the teacher came to the class and started teaching but reminded everyone about the function.
"You all know, still I am telling once again, that there is a function in our school day after tomorrow," the teacher said.
"Yes, ma'am," all students said in unison.
After school, Vrinda and Shriyan were busy with the remaining decorations, and Anish and Vaidehi were helping them. Vrinda was arranging the flowers while Shriyan was tying the ribbons.
"I am going to the storeroom as the flowers are not sufficient," Vrinda said to Vaidehi.
"Sure, go ahead," Vaidehi said.
"Anish, sun na, mere ribbons bhi khatam hone wale hain. Jaake leke aa na storeroom se," Shriyan said to Anish, knowing Vrinda was there.
"Haan, abhi leke aaya," Anish said, not knowing Vrinda was already there.
As Anish went to the storeroom, Vrinda was already present. The lights were off. As Anish entered, he thought to turn on the lights, and so did Vrinda. They collided with each other in the dark.
"Bhoot! Bhoot!" Vrinda screamed.
Anish found the switch and turned on the light, making his way to Vrinda.
"Ghabrao mat, mai hu, Anish," he said.
"Hum toh darr gaye the. Vaise aap yaha kya kar rahe hain?" Vrinda asked softly.
"Woh, main ribbons lene aaya tha," Anish answered.
"Accha," Vrinda said.
"Aap yaha kya kar rahi hain?" Anish asked.
"Woh, hum flowers lene aaye the," Vrinda answered softly again.
"Thik hai, toh chalo dhundhte hain," Anish said.
"Haan," Vrinda replied.
They both started searching for the flowers and ribbons. Anish found the flowers, and Vrinda held the bag of ribbons. They exchanged their items and were about to leave, but the door was stuck. Anish tried to open it.
"Yeh toh khul hi nahi raha," Anish said anxiously, putting all his force to open the door.
"Aap mazaak kar rahe ho na?" Vrinda asked.
"Are nahi, mai aisa mazaak kyun karunga," Anish replied.
"Hatiye, hum koshish karte hain," Vrinda said firmly.
"Mere se nahi ho raha hai aur aap kar lengi?" Anish asked, stepping back.
"Try toh kar sakte hain, kya pata shayad humse khul jaaye," Vrinda said, hands on her waist.
"Kariye," Anish said, stepping aside.
Vrinda held the door and started pulling it towards her. Anish stood there, observing with hope. Her hands slipped, and she fell into Anish's arms, who held her instinctively.
"Sorry, galti se hua humse," she said, straightening her posture.
"Aisi galtiyan mujhe pasand hain," Anish muttered quietly.
"Kuch kaha kya aapne?" Vrinda asked.
"Nahi… woh… dhyan se karna tha na, chot toh nahi aayi kahin?" Anish said softly, trying to reassure her.
"Sorry," Vrinda said, feeling awkward. "Hum yaha se bahar kaise niklenge abhi?" Vrinda asked, tense.
"Aap fikr mat kariye, mai kuch karta hoon," Anish reassured her.
He started knocking on the door, hoping someone would hear. In the decoration area, Shriyan and Vaidehi noticed the delay.
"Inhe aane mai itni der kaise lag gayi?" Vaidehi wondered aloud.
"Shriyan, chalo, hum jaake dekh ke aate hain yeh dono kaha gaye," Vaidehi suggested.
"Haan, chalo," Shriyan agreed, happy that Vaidehi spoke to him.
They headed towards the storeroom.
"Yeh raha storeroom," Shriyan directed.
"Vrinda… Anish, kya tum andar ho?" Vaidehi called out.
"Haan, yeh door lock ho gaya hai, shayad khul hi nahi raha hai," Vrinda answered from inside.
"Hum try karte hain bahar se, thodi der ruko," Shriyan added.
Shriyan instructed Vaidehi, Vrinda, and Anish to stay back while he tried to push the door several times.
"Nahi khul raha hai yeh toh," Shriyan said.
"Ek kaam kar, tu fir ek baar bahar se try kar, mai andar se try karta hoon," Anish instructed.
"Thik hai," Shriyan agreed.
"Mai 3 tak count karti hoon, phir dono try karna," Vaidehi said.
"1… 2… 3," Vaidehi counted, and both forced the door from their sides. It finally opened.
"Kanha, ajj toh apne bacha liya," Vrinda said, holding her Radha-Krishna pendant.
"Thank you so much," Vrinda said to Shriyan and Vaidehi with grateful eyes.
"You are welcome," Shriyan replied, while Vaidehi ignored the thanks.
"Thank you so much, both of you," Anish added.
"Abhi yeh thank you session agar khatam ho gaya ho, toh chalo, bahot decorations karne baki hain," Vaidehi said.
"Haan, chalo," Anish agreed.
Everyone returned to finish the decorations.
"Bahot thak gaye hain hum," Vrinda said to Vaidehi, overheard by Anish.
"Yaar, mai bhi bahot thak gaya hoon," Shriyan said.
"Tum dono toh kuch karte hi nahi ho, bas hame dekhte baithe rehte ho," Shriyan added mischievously.
"Kahi jana mat, mai abhi aaya," Anish said, catching everyone's attention.
"Are pr…" Shriyan started, but Anish had already left.
When Anish returned, he was holding bottles of cold drinks, which he passed to everyone.
"Aap thak gaye the na," Anish said, looking at Vrinda, though she was busy talking with Vaidehi. Shriyan got the hint.
"Toh ye hamare liye nahi hai?" Shriyan asked mischievously.
"Are sab ke liye hai… Yeh lo," Anish said, shyly handing the bottles to Vrinda and Vaidehi. Their eyes locked for a brief moment before Anish looked away, surprising Vrinda since it was usually her who broke the eye contact.
"Chalo, sab decoration ho gaya hai, ghar chalte hain," Shriyan suggested.
"Haan, chalo," Vaidehi agreed.
And everyone went home.
